Expectations

Expectations for students:

  • Practice daily

  • Arrive at your lessons on time and be ready to go

  • Bring all of your books and music to your lesson

  • Come prepared for your lesson

  • Come with a positive attitude and treat others with respect

Expectations for parents:

  • Tune in to what your children are learning at the lesson – they will be most successful if you know what’s going on and are willing to help them at home, as violin and cello are difficult instruments. You do not have to have any musical background to be helpful. We can help you understand how to assist your children in their practicing.

  • Play the recording frequently. Listening is part of practicing. We have found that students are most successful when they listen often. In addition to active listening sessions, put the recording on in the background at home.

  • Help your child set a regular practice schedule. Setting a consistent time every day is the most effective way to make practicing a habit. Mornings are often a great time for practice sessions.
